Billie Eilish fans shouldn’t anticipate three-hour concerts anytime soon. After releasing her third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” the Grammy and Oscar winner went live on the music app Stationhead to answer fan questions.
When asked if she would ever do a three-hour show like Taylor Swift did for the Eras Tour or Beyoncé for the Renaissance World Tour, Eilish responded, “I’m not doing a three-hour show, that’s literally psychotic.”
“Nobody wants that,” she could be heard saying in recordings posted on X, formerly Twitter. “You guys don’t want that. I don’t want that. I don’t even want that as a fan. My favorite artist in the world, I’m not trying to hear them for three hours.”
Although Eilish did not specify any artist in her comments, some Swifties speculated whether she was subtly criticizing the “Fortnight” singer, who is currently on the European leg of her Eras Tour that lasts more than three hours.
However, Eilish has previously admired Swift and Beyoncé for their capacity to deliver lengthy performances.
“I find it really hard to play stadiums,” the “What Was I Made For?” singer told the Los Angeles Times in October 2023. “Beyoncé and Taylor [Swift] are untouchable superstars; the fact that they can put on a show that long, and it’s filled with so many incredible moments, is really amazing.”
Other artists, including music legends such as Bruce Springsteen and Paul McCartney, have been performing hours-long concerts for years.
Last year, on the Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend podcast, the former Beatles singer even humorously “blamed” Springsteen for the increasingly long stage times that artists are expected to play today, compared to the 1960s.
Eilish was also asked on the Stationhead app if she planned to include every song from her album “Hit Me Hard and Soft” on the set list for her upcoming world tour, which begins in September and concludes in July 2025.
