Avicii’s ex-girlfriend Emily Goldberg has sadly died aged 34-years-old, just a year after she celebrated being ‘cancer free’.
Cause of Death
Emily died on April 3 in La Jolla, California from a pulmonary embolism – which is a blood clot that blocks and stops blood flow to an artery in the lung.
She Was Cancer-Free
Emily last posted on her Instagram in May last year as she shared a picture of herself lying in a hospital bed with her thumbs up to the camera.
She captioned the picture: ‘I lived b****. I have had cancer for the past year. I am now cancer free.’
Her family have described her as a ‘vivacious and unique person who experienced many adventures in her all too brief life’.
Condolences
The post has since been flooded with condolences to her family from Avicii fans, as they wrote: ‘Hope you’re reunited with your soulmate Tim and you’re both enjoying rest and peace.’

Emily and Avicii’s Love
Emily and the late DJ dated from 2011 to 2013 before the hitmaker, whose real name was Tim Bergling – died in 2018 by suicide at just 28 years old.
Emily revealed her pains on social media the day after his sudden passing in Oman as she shared a screengrab of text messages between the pair, and a handful of personal pictures of them together.
She wrote: ‘Come on babe, don’t give up on us. Choose me, and I’ll show you love.’ Those are lyrics from a song Tim wrote for me. I wish I could have lived up to them.’
She continued: ‘For the two years we were together, he was my closest confidante, and my best friend. Now I can’t look at Bear without knowing I’ll never see his face again.’
Emily is survived by her parents, Julie and Sam Goldberg of La Jolla, and brother Aaron Goldberg of Chicago, Illinois.
