Authorities in Pennsylvania arrested a man after they found his elderly mother allegedly ‘fused’ to her bed and covered in a ‘soiled’ blanket in a home reeking of foul odor and flies buzzing around, said police.
Details of What Happened
A neighbor has tipped off authorities and requested a welfare check on the family.
Officials arrived at the house and found the woman, who is not named in the statement, in horrific condition.
‘When they arrived at the residence, they found several Amazon packages and bags containing “unopened” food at the entrance,’ police recalled.
‘When they looked inside through a sliding glass door, they saw “a large amount of trash on the floor” as well as flies on the windows.’
Police were then met with a ‘foul odor’ when they entered the apartment.
The Mother Was Unconscious
Klein told police his mother was asleep in the bedroom, but officers found the woman ‘lying in the bed with a blanket on her, unconscious and breathing.’
Police noticed the ‘soiled’ blanket covering the mother, and upon removing it, they noticed a part of her body was allegedly ‘covered in dried feces and maggots as the helpless woman was fused to the bed,’ police statement read.
Police Arrest Klein
Both the victim and Klein was transported to hospital.
Daniel Klein, 51, has since been arrested on Sunday, April 7, and was charged with one count of abusing a person dependent on his care and one count of reckless endangerment of another person.
