Prince George and his father, Prince William, had a delightful evening last Thursday, enjoying a football match between Aston Villa and Lille OSC just hours away from their Sandringham residence.
Their unexpected outing sparked a unanimous response from royal enthusiasts. This marked the royal duo’s first public appearance since news of the Princess of Wales’ cancer diagnosis emerged the previous month.
Despite the circumstances, William and George appeared genuinely joyful as they cheered on their team to victory in the UEFA Europa Conference League quarter-final. As they made their way back home after the match, a bystander captured a moment of the father and son walking together.
One notable observation from keen royal watchers was Prince George’s remarkable height at the age of 10, standing tall and nearly reaching his father’s shoulder.
“George is getting very tall” one fan commented alongside the photo that was shared on X.
The duo presented an adorable sight, coordinated in their team’s navy blue attire, with both sporting jumpers in the matching hue. George proudly wore his Aston Villa blue-and-claret scarf as well.
Throughout the match, George was seated between his father and what seemed to be one of his friends accompanying him to the game. Prince William, a passionate football enthusiast, has openly shared his allegiance to Aston Villa, disclosing his reasons for supporting the team in a conversation with Gary Lineker.
He told the football pundit: “A long time ago at school I got into football big time. I was looking around for clubs. All my friends at school were either Man United fans or Chelsea fans and I didn’t want to follow the run-of-the-mill teams.
“I wanted to have a team that was more mid-table that could give me more emotional rollercoaster moments,” explaining why he picked the West Midlands team, rather than one closer to his home in Windsor or London.”
