Police Begins Investigations Over The Death Of Deputy CP In His Apartment In Oyo State

Gbolahan Oyedemi, a Deputy Commissioner of Police serving with the Force Criminal and Investigation Department at Alagbon, Lagos State, was discovered deceased on Monday at his residence in the Ogbomoso area of Oyo State.

Reports indicate that Oyedemi previously served as the aide de camp to the late former governor of Oyo State, Adebayo Alao-Akala, during his 11-month tenure as de facto governor in 2006.

While there were unconfirmed speculations suggesting the possibility of suicide, a source within the Oyo State Police Command informed our correspondent that investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death are ongoing.

According to a source close to the family who spoke to our correspondent in Ibadan, the state capital, on Tuesday, Oyedemi, who frequently visited his hometown during the Easter celebrations, instructed his aides over the weekend to return to their respective towns and celebrate with their families.

The source said, “Yes, he committed suicide. His body was found hanging in his house yesterday (Monday). He stays alone, and he normally comes home for Easter celebrations.

“This time, he told his aides to go and celebrate with their family members in their various homes. Only God knows what could have prompted him to commit suicide.”
