Bobrisky To Be Arraign In Lagos Court For Six-Count Charge Of Alleged Laundering

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is preparing to present the controversial transgender individual, Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, before the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Friday morning.

Bobrisky, who was apprehended on Wednesday, was granted administrative bail by the EFCC on Thursday but was unable to fulfill the bail conditions.

This Friday, Bobrisky was escorted to the premises of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, around 9am, in a white Hiace Toyota bus by EFCC operatives accompanied by armed police escorts.

The anti-graft agency is expected to bring charges against Bobrisky related to money laundering and abuse of the Nigerian currency.

In a viral video, Bobrisky was seen scattering Naira notes on the floor at a social event while being praised by a musician.

He is set to appear before Justice Abimbola Awogboro on a six-count charge, which includes allegations of laundering N180 million through his company, Bob Express, and tampering with N490,000 worth of Naira notes by scattering them.

While the first four counts of the charge, signed by EFCC counsel Rotimi Oyedepo (SAN), accuse the defendant of abusing the Naira currency, the last two counts focus on alleged money laundering activities.
