Beautician from Russia plunged 170ft to her death while she was taking a photograph of a man against the background of a spectacular sea view overlooking the Black Sea.
How it Happened
Inessa Polenko stepped backwards and lost her footing, causing her to fall over the edge with no barriers to save her.
The horrified man she was taking a photograph of approaches the edge of the platform before shouting out for help in efforts to save her.
She Died Eventually
People rushed out to her motionless body on the seashore 170ft below, she was rushed to hospital in scenic Abkhazia, where doctors fought for her life but she died in intensive care the same day.
Her funeral took place on Tuesday.
The dead woman was not on the official viewing platform, which has safety railings, at the Gagry viewing point.
Instead she was on a structure from a disused building construction adjacent to the viewing platform, which juts out over the cliff edge, and has become an unofficial vantage point for photo-enthusiasts.
