Wedding Invitations For Prince George’s Godfather Is Out

It’s poised to be one of the most significant society weddings of the year, with reports indicating that invitations have been dispatched to fortunate guests for the forthcoming nuptials of the Duke of Westminster.

Hugh Grosvenor, the 7th Duke of Westminster, is set to wed his longtime girlfriend Olivia Henson on June 4th at Chester Cathedral. According to Ephraim Hardcastle, invitations for their wedding will soon reach their guests, with expectations that the Prince and Princess of Wales will be in attendance.

There’s speculation that Prince William and Kate’s children might play a prominent role in the ceremony, considering that Hugh serves as Prince George’s godfather. The Duke also shares a close friendship with the Duke of Sussex, although there have been conflicting reports about whether Prince Harry, now residing in Montecito, California, will attend the wedding, given that his daughter Princess Lilibet’s third birthday coincides with the event.

Hugh, aged 33, is the third child and sole son of the late Gerald Grosvenor, 6th Duke of Westminster, and his wife, Natalia. He was raised at the family’s ancestral estate, Eaton Hall in Cheshire, alongside his three sisters: Lady Tamara, Lady Edwina, and Lady Viola. King Charles was named as one of Hugh’s godparents at his baptism.

He attended a local primary school before enrolling at the private Mostyn House School and subsequently Ellesmere College in Shropshire. He obtained a degree in Countryside Management from Newcastle University.

Hugh, who ranks 11th on the 2023 Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated fortune of £9.9 billion, inherited the Grosvenor estate from his late father Gerald following his passing in 2016. The Grosvenor Group owns approximately 300 acres of land in Mayfair and Belgravia, as well as significant city center developments like Liverpool’s ONE shopping center. The Duke serves as Grosvenor’s Chair and also chairs the Westminster Foundation, which focuses on aiding vulnerable young children.

In 2023, he was appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Cheshire in recognition of his continued support to the county. Outside of his professional engagements, he has represented Team GB at Olympic Skeet Shooting competitions.

The Duke’s fiancée, Olivia, is employed by Belazu, a B-Corp certified food company located in London. As per the Evening Standard, the prospective bride attended Marlborough College in Gloucestershire, which happens to be the alma mater of the Princess of Wales, before furthering her studies at Trinity College Dublin.
