Former ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov died at 42.
His death was announced by his former club Salavat Yulaev Ufa on social messaging site Telegram on Tuesday morning.
‘It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that the coach of Salavat Yulaev, Konstantin Koltsov, has passed away,’ the Russian club’s statement read.
‘He was a strong and cheerful person, he was loved and respected by players, colleagues, and fans. Konstantin forever wrote himself into the history of our club.’

Belarusian Tennis world number 2 Aryna Sabalenka, 25, is grieving at the moment as her boyfriend of 3 years is dead.
Sabalenka must be in a state of shock as she is presently in Miami preparing for the upcoming Miami Open, where she is seeded second.
Koltsov is thought to have joined her in Florida before his shock passing – only God knows how this news will affect her performance … or maybe she won’t have to play.

Briefing on Koltsov’s Career
Koltsov won the Russian Championship and the Gagarin Cup as part of Salavat Yulaev, and did a great job on the team’s coaching staff. Before he met his death, he was on the verge of decision making – whether to renew his contract with the Russian hockey team or not … but now it is what it is.
Kolstov died of ‘a detached blood clot’, according to Telegraf.
