Man reported wife and mother-in-law missing last september. NOW he’s accused of murdering them

A California man who reported his wife and mother-in-law missing last September is now accused of murdering them.

Police in San Pablo, a city in the East Bay area, say Phuc Vo, 40, reported the disappearances of Tho Ly, 40, and her mother Que Tran, 74 on Sept. 13.

Statement From Official

Investigators say that Vo indicated that Ly and Tran had traveled to Southern California after an argument in a 2017 Honda Fit. But according to police, the location of Ly and Tran couldn’t be verified.

Vo’s Statements Didn’t Connect

Upon further investigation, however, police allege they found inconsistencies in Vo’s statement and that he was seen driving the missing car, which was located in Oakland in December.

Their Bodies Have Not Been Found

Though the bodies of Ly and Tran have not been located, police arrested Vo on Feb. 29 after executing a search warrant at his home.

He has since been charged with two counts of murder, the department says.

It is not clear if Vo has entered a plea or retained an attorney, but he is currently in custody in Contra Costa County.
