On Wednesday, a series of drone strikes targeted Russian oil refineries and border areas for the second consecutive day, causing one incident that led to a fire and injuries in the central Ryazan region, according to officials.
Overnight, numerous Ukrainian drones were deployed, focusing on Russian border regions including Belgorod, Bryansk, Kursk, and Voronezh. While some damage was inflicted, no fatalities were reported, regional authorities stated.
One drone crashed into an oil refinery in the Ryazan region, resulting in a fire and several injuries. Ryazan region Governor Pavel Malkov relayed preliminary information regarding injuries via the messaging app Telegram, noting that emergency responders were on site.
Concurrently, a drone aimed at an oil refinery in the northwestern Leningrad region was intercepted and downed, local officials confirmed. Fortunately, no injuries or damages were reported.
In the Voronezh region, more than 30 drones were successfully intercepted, causing minor damages as reported by regional governor Alexander Gussev via Telegram. Similarly, in the western Belgorod region, six drones were downed, causing disruptions to electrical lines and subsequent power outages, as communicated by governor Vyacheslav Gladkov on Telegram.
Moreover, in the Bryansk region, eight drones were intercepted, while in the Kursk region, four were destroyed, with no reports of significant damages, according to the respective governors of those regions.
This series of drone strikes marks one of Ukraine’s most extensive attacks on Russia since the onset of Moscow’s full-scale invasion more than two years ago, which commenced on Tuesday.
