To-be pitied Kate Garraway made a lot of efforts and spent a fortune to tend to husband Derek Draper‘s care before he lost his long battle with COVID-19 of four years.

The British TV host was trying to survive during his political lobbyist husband’s sickness and now she’s stuck in survival mode as staggering sum of £800,000 in debt is staring at her face.

Why Kate is in Debt?

The debt gathered as a result of years of care provided for her late husband Derek Draper as he eventually died in January aged 56.

Speaking to The Times, Kate – who owes between £500,000 to £800,000 – said: ‘Derek’s needs were clearly so great, yet he didn’t warrant funded care — so you think, “If he isn’t getting it, then who is?”

The Good Morning Britain presenter however acknowledged that the individuals/organisations she owe have not been on her necks yet, but they could anytime soon.

‘To be fair to them, no one’s contacted me since he’s passed away to ask for that. They may well still do, but they haven’t as yet,’ she said.

‘The bigger picture of the further appeals I haven’t addressed yet, because I’m still in survival mode. It’s supposed to be a system that’s meant to catch you if you fall. But actually, it feels like it’s trying to catch you out.’

He really ‘wanted to have his say’ despite his illness leaving him with very limited speech, according to The Sun.
