Charlotte Casiraghi Parts Ways With Her Husband As She Is Photographed With Her Purported New Partner

Charlotte Casiraghi has been photographed with her rumored new partner following reports of her separation from her husband, Dimitri Rassam.

Paris Match released images of the Monaco royal enjoying the company of French writer Nicolas Mathieu in Paris earlier this month. Mathieu, aged 45, has worked as a scriptwriter and news editor, and notably won the prestigious Prix Goncourt in 2018.

Model and equestrian Charlotte, aged 37, sported a smart-casual ensemble comprising a navy coat, matching knitwear, and blue jeans as she sat with Nicolas on the terrace of a café in the city. Reports of Charlotte and Dimitri’s split have circulated in the European press for weeks, yet there has been no confirmation from their representatives or the Monaco royal palace.

The last public appearance of the pair together was at the 60th AMADE Anniversary Dinner at Monte Carlo Opera Garnier last October. Charlotte, the daughter of Princess Caroline of Monaco, shares a son named Balthazar, born in 2018, with French film producer Dimitri. The couple tied the knot in June 2019, with a civil ceremony held in the Prince’s Palace of Monaco’s Throne Room followed by a religious celebration in Provence, France.

For the civil ceremony, the bride wore a brocade mini dress by Saint Laurent, featuring three dramatic bows down the front and a scalloped edge. She also adorned her late grandmother Grace Kelly’s Carter diamond necklace—a wedding gift from Prince Rainier when they married in 1956. Additionally, Charlotte has an older son named Raphaël, born in 2013, from her previous relationship with Moroccan-Canadian comedian Gad Elmaleh. While Balthazar is 12th in the line of succession behind his mother, Raphaël is not included as his parents never married.

Charlotte, the daughter of Princess Caroline and the late Stefano Casiraghi, an Italian businessman and socialite, tragically lost her father in a boating accident in 1990 when she was just four years old. She has two brothers, Andrea and Pierre Casiraghi, as well as a half-sister, Princess Alexandra of Hanover, from her mother Caroline’s marriage to Prince Ernst August of Hanover.

In addition to her showjumping and modeling career, Charlotte is a published writer and magazine editor. After earning a degree in philosophy from Paris-Sorbonne University in 2007, she interned at the publishing house Robert Laffont in Paris and for the British newspaper The Independent in London.

Afterward, she assumed the role of editor-at-large for Above magazine and established an environmentally conscious fashion publication, Ever Manifesto, in 2009.

She has graced the runways for several prestigious fashion labels, including Yves Saint Laurent and Gucci. Since 2020, she has served as an ambassador for Chanel.
