BBC Death in Paradise’s DI Neville Parker replacement is FINALLY ‘revealed’

There were concerns amid rumours for Death In Paradise’s DI Neville Parker replacement after Ralf Little gave announcement of his emotional exit after four years as Saint Marie’s lead detective from the BBC show.

Now, the much anticipated block is being laid with lists of stars tipped as next in line. As it is, The Inbetweeners’ Simon Bird  is topping the chart.

Betfred’s likelihood of Simon, 39, taking on the role is at odds of 5/4, with a 44 per cent probability.

And the second on his heels is Diane Morgan, who is famous for her iconic character Philomena Cunk.

Diane, 48, who has also starred in Afterlife and Mandy, has odds of 7/1, according to The Mirror

Gavin and Stacey star Matthew Horne is at odds of 5/1 whilst other celebrities thought to be in the running include comedian Romesh Ranganathan, Jodie Whittaker and Jaye Griffiths.

In a separate quarter, some fans had thought that the show’s character Florence Cassell, played by Josephine Jobert, would be the stand-in detective.

Ralf’s Emotional Announcement

In Ralf’s final episode for Death In Paradise on Sunday night, viewers were left in tears as his exit storyline was finally revealed.

After concerns/fears his character DI Neville Parker was planning to leave the island of Saint Marie solo, the final scenes of series 13 saw him rushing to be with fan favourite DS Florence Cassell (Joséphine Jobert) after their ‘will they, wont they’ storyline reached its emotional conclusion. 

After an intervention from his friends and colleagues, Neville dashed to the port to tell Florence how he felt, leaving viewers in tears as he declared: ‘If the unknown is all you have to offer then that’s good enough for me. All I want is for us to be together.’

The final scene saw the two sailing off together into the sunset.

The series, set on the island of Saint Marie, was the BBC’s third biggest drama in the UK in 2023, sitting just behind Happy Valley and Doctor Who.

The drama has had a huge global success reaching over 240 territories. Its 100th episode will air during the current season.
