Sophomore Rolando J. Ifill was charged with carrying a firearm on school property on Tuesday, as reported by WCSC. More charges are expected.

The lockdowns were lifted by 12.45pm, a SCSU spokesperson said.

Both Orangeburg schools were put on lockdown at about 11.30am, after Claflin’s alert system issued a message about a possible shooting at SCSU, according to ABC 15.

Students at both campuses received text messages instructing them to ‘shelter in place as police investigate.’

No injuries were reported in the incident.
