It has emerged that following his brief UK visit, Prince Harry switched flights in order to get home quicker to LA to be with his wife Meghan Markle and their kids.
The Duke of Sussex is reported to be back in California, with him spotted exiting a Delta flight that landed at LAX at 6.16 pm local time on Wednesday.
It is believed the Prince caught the Delta flight because the British Airways flight he was expected to take was “delayed by two hours”, as per reports.
This comes after Harry flew from LA to London earlier this week following the upsetting news that his father had been diagnosed with cancer after a procedure at hospital saw him undergo some tests.
The return to the US comes after Harry reportedly spent just half an hour with his father after making the journey to visit him following his health news.
The visit was also said to have “caused some disquiet” by Harry “taking it upon himself” to fly to the UK and visit his father without an invite and at such short notice.
According to MailOnline, the King was “unhappy about what amounted to a fait accompli served up by an emotional but well-meaning son”. In fact Harry’s surprise arrival reportedly halted plans for the Monarch to fly to Norfolk with his wife Queen Camilla.
Instead Charles remained at his residence at Clarence House to meet with his youngest son, although an invitation for Harry to stay was not extended. Harry only spent around 24 hours in the UK, with the Duke of Sussex not even spending the night in a royal residence and instead opting for a luxury hotel, according to reports.
The Duke of Sussex was photographed arriving at his father’s residence at about 3.15 in the afternoon with a police escort. Just 30 minutes later, at quarter to four in the afternoon, the King and Queen were seen waving to crowds as they left Clarence House, signifying that the meeting between father and son was over and didn’t last long.
The MailOnline reported: “It is striking that Harry was not invited to stay at Clarence House or, indeed, at any other royal residence. So last-minute was the decision to fly, that he had to book a hotel room for the night.”
It added: “This impromptu visit, while well-intentioned, has served as a sad reminder of the continuing rift within the family, a burden Charles can ill afford in his current state when all his energy must be focused on the challenge of his health.”
The fleeting visit also came as Harry wishes to make amends and heal the rift with his father according to reports. A palace source recently revealed that Harry is determined to make amends with his father, and has “reconciliation” plans to get things back on track. “It looks like Harry may be learning his lesson … he really wants this reconciliation plan,” the source explained.
