TRAGEDY – A mother whose partner murdered their two children has suffered further heartache after her baby daughter died.
How her Partner Killed her Children
Jordan Monaghan killed three-week-old Ruby as she lay in her Moses basket in 2013. Eight months later, the monster smothered 21-month-old Logan in a changing room cubicle after going swimming at a leisure centre.
Her Fresh Beginning Has Since Met a Bump
The murderer’s ex-partner Laura Gray, 30, has since met Andrew Chambers and she gave birth to little Hallie in August. But their joy turned to anguish when the tot was diagnosed with Congenital Nephrotic Syndrome – a rare kidney disorder, which causes protein to leak into the urine.
Laura and Andrew regularly travelled to Alder Hey Children’s Hospital intensive care unit, in Liverpool, where Hallie spent most of her short life after undergoing an operation to help control the condition.
The Young Child Lost the Battle
Dad Andrew described their ‘precious daughter’ as a ‘little warrior princess’ in a series of updates to family and friends on social media. Last month, the devastated parents announced that four-month-old Hallie lost her battle.
Victim Impact Statement
In an emotional post, they wrote: ‘Our warrior princess sadly lost her battle on 15/1/2024 peacefully in mummy and daddies (sic) arms, and surrounded by her loved ones.
‘Anybody that knows Hallie knows she lit up any room with her bright smile, so we want to make her final day as bright as possible.’
Andrew also added: ‘Cant believe I’ll never see your beautiful smile (boo) I miss u so much my heart is broken I love you so much princess until we meet again R.I.P HALLIE BOO BEAR XX’ (SIC).
Distraught Laura had already endured a parent’s worst nightmare of losing a child. For five years she believed that her beloved son and daughter had died in two unconnected tragedies.
In 2018, police launched an investigation into Ruby and Logan’s deaths – with Monaghan being their prime suspect.
Motive Behind Her Partner’s Action
Officers discovered that Monaghan would deliberately make the children sick to force Laura to stay in the crumbling relationship.
Ruby was just 24 days old when she was murdered. Doctors ruled she died from pneumonia, while her brother Logan’s cause of death – eight months later – was inconclusive.
Police arrested construction worker Monaghan on suspicion of murder after another child collapsed while in his care.
