On 6 February Drake became the top trending topic on X, formerly known as Twitter, after a video circulated the internet which appeared to show the God’s Plan rapper laying naked in bed and engaging in a s*xual activity.
Streamer Adin Ross allegedly sent the star a voice note about the clip and in a recording posted on social media, Adin appeared to tell Drake: “We was just looking at the s**t, it’s like crazy bro, like god damn. You’re blessed with your voice, you’re blessed with your performing, you’re blessed to be you, you’re blessed to be number one and you are blessed to have a f***ing missile.”
The streamer then claimed that Drake texted him back with “like eight laughing emojis” and according to Ross, the chart-topping rapper claimed he would use the voice note for his “next album intro”. Drake has yet to publicly respond to the video that went viral overnight.
Viewers began to decipher whether the video was actually of Drake and eagle-eyed X users noted that the headboard matched the same one seen in his $185 million private jet. Daily Star has gone to Drake’s management for comment.
The video, which has yet to be confirmed or denied as legitimate, comes days after fellow music royalty star Taylor Swift was caught up in a deep fake scandal. Pornographic images of Swift’s face were doctored onto someone else’s body and sent round the internet, resulting in an influx of searches for the singer’s name on X, which led the site to block searches for “Taylor Swift” altogether.
The pictures appear to have been made by AI non-consensually. According to some reports, the shocking images gained over 27 million views in just 19 hours before the original account that posted the pictures was suspended from the social media platform.
X’s head of business operations Joe Benarroch told the Wall Street Journal that the decision was made as a “temporary action” as the website “prioritises safety on this issue,” while X released a statement that urged users they were “taking appropriate actions against the accounts responsible” for sharing the deepfaked images.
