GEORGIA – Lindsay Shiver has accused her estranged husband, who she is charged with plotting to kill alongside her lover, of withholding access to their children.
The Conspiracy
The former pageant queen and her boyfriend Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28, are set to stand trial in March over conspiring to murder ex-NFL player Robert Shiver using hitman Faron Newbold, 29.
She had been held in the Bahamas since her July arrest but a judge last month ruled that she could return to the US to see her three children over the holidays.
Then the Husband Reneged on Her Words
But Lindsay, 37, filed a motion in Georgia on January 3 which claimed her estranged husband has not let her see the kids despite previously offering conditions in which she could, according to Court TV.
Her lawyers claimed Robert agreed to allow the children to visit their mother under the supervision of her parents.
Lindsay was allowed to return to America by a judge in the Bahamas on December 21 on certain conditions.
She is Alabama-forbidden
She is forbidden from being within 100 feet of her former NFL-player husband and must stay in the state of Alabama and was fitted with an electronic monitor.
The mother-of-three is only allowed to return to Georgia, where her husband lives, for divorce or custody proceedings.
She claimed Robert agreed to allow visitation rights with her children and accused him of later withholding access.
‘When the Bahamian court released the Defendant to come to the States on December 21, 2023, Plaintiff suddenly reneged on his earlier proposal and broke the parties’ temporary understanding, citing the expert opinion of an unnamed child psychologist whose identity he refuses to disclose,’ her attorney’s wrote in a motion.’
Despite the children’s pleas to see their mother, and despite Defendant’s willingness to agree to a court-ordered prohibition on discussing any pending legal matters with the children.’
She Wants to be Closer with Her Children
Lindsay alleged she has only ever been allowed to speak with her children once over FaceTime on Christmas day.
The motion alleges that Robert was withholding access to the children ‘long before any of the developments in the Bahamas’ and that he was ‘moving money around to various accounts beyond Defendant’s reach, and was taking the children away from her care and refusing her contact with them.’
Shiver is accused of conspiring with her barman lover Bethel to enlist Newbold for the hit on her husband.
She Confessed to the Crime
Prosecutors said the trio discussed the attempted hit over WhatsApp before Shiver sent a photo of Robert, who filed for divorce in April, to Newbold – along with the instruction: ‘kill him.’
According to documents obtained, Shiver broke down during her police interview and allegedly confessed to sending photos and messages to Newbold, instructing him to murder her husband of 13 years.
Robert accused his ex wife of drinking, making ‘poor decisions’ and falling in with an ‘unpleasant’ new crowd.
