Kay Burley has revealed that she was forced to miss her Sky News show after suffering a horrific allergic reaction.

The broadcaster took to Instagram Story on Thursday to update viewers on her whereabouts after she was notably absent from her usual morning slot, Breakfast with Kay Burley, which airs Monday to Thursday.
The 62-year-old was practically unrecognisable as she shared a photo of her allergic reaction, which saw her trademark fringe pushed off her face to show her swollen and dry looking eyes.
She wrote alongside the close-up shot: ‘When allergies prevent you from being on the TV.
‘Sorry to have missed you all today.’

Making light of her health concern, she posted the image to the tune of Bright Eyes by Art Garfunkel.
The lyrics include: ‘Bright eyes, burning like fire // Bright eyes, how can you close and fail? // How can the light that burned so brightly // Suddenly burn so pale?’
Cause of the allergic reaction
Despite sharing the update, Burley didn’t clarify what caused her to have the allergic reaction.
