Moment McDonald’s customer has their mobile stolen in just 10 seconds as police release CCTV

A mobile phone was stolen in just 10 seconds by a thief who used a distraction technique on a victim in a McDonald’s restaurant in Nottingham.

Footage of the incident has been released by Nottinghamshire Police to raise awareness of tactics being used.

The clip shows a man distracting a woman by asking her to sign a piece of paper, using the sheet to cover her device phone which was on the table before snatching the phone which was underneath.

He goes on to ask the unsuspecting victim to look at and sign the piece of A4 paper, using the sheet to cover her mobile phone which was on the table.

The man then uses the same hand which is holding the paper to steal her device which was underneath before making his escape.

Nottinghamshire Police said the force had released the footage in a bid to raise awareness of tactics being used by criminals.

The thief struck at the branch on Milton Street before heading towards the Victoria Centre at 12.15pm on October 20.

Inquiries are ongoing into the incident which happened at 12:15pm on 20 October.
