A Colorado man has been charged with first-degree murder after allegedly waiting for a man outside of a courthouse, then shooting him several times, according to a police.
How the victim was killed
William Winters was carrying a baby in a car seat when he was shot in the chest and head outside the El Paso County Courthouse in Colorado Springs on Thursday, police say in an arrest affidavit affidavit published by KKTV and reviewed by PEOPLE.
Shaquille Brown, 29, is facing a first-degree murder charge for the incident.
According to the affidavit, Brown told police he had previously been assaulted by Winters in April and feared for his life after the latter allegedly sent him threatening messages.
‘I was going to get you’
A witness to the shooting told police that Brown fired shots at Winters and said, ‘I told you I was going to get you,’ before firing more shots, authorities claim in the affidavit.

Surveillance cameras outside the courthouse showed Brown waiting outside for nearly 30 minutes before Winters arrived, according to the affidavit.
