Kim Kardashian‘s father Robert Kardashian was so in love with his 70s-era girlfriend Priscilla Presley that he wanted to marry her.
That’s because she made Robert ‘very happy,’ author Jerry Oppenheimer told Page Six on Thursday.
How Kim Kardashian’s dad Robert Kardashian failed to marry Priscilla Presley
‘He wanted to marry her and have children with her. That was definitely his hope, his plan,’ Oppenheimer revealed after naming his source as Joni Migdal, a close friend of both Robert and Priscilla.
Jerry has talked about Robert and Priscilla’s relationship before in the 2017 book The Kardashians: An American Drama. But now he is sharing even more details.
This comes after Priscilla claimed last week that Elvis did not want her to marry again after they divorced in 1973.
Robert and Priscilla broke up and he went on to marry Kris Jenner in 1978. Together they had four children: Kim, Kourtney, Khloé and Rob.
Ultimately, Robert and Priscilla’s relationship soured, with Migdal claiming Priscilla told Robert, ‘Look, I’m not going to marry anyone until Elvis dies.’
Elvis died in 1977.
Earlier last week, Priscilla appeared to support Migdal’s claims, as she spoke out why she never took the next step with any of her subsequent partners.
During a Q&A at the South Point Casino in Las Vegas, the 78-year-old made it clear that she was worried about her famous ex’s feelings, according to People.
‘I just don’t think that he could handle that,’ she admitted of the rock and roll icon, who died in 1977 at age 42.
Priscilla, who opened up about how she was coping with the death of her daughter Lisa Marie Presley during the same Q&A, said she wouldn’t marry another man as long as Elvis was still alive.
Why Priscilla didn’t marry Kim Kardashian’s dad?
However, Priscilla also had her own reasons for not taking another husband, as evidenced by the fact that she didn’t move to remarry even after the King’s death when she was still in her early 30s.
‘To be honest with you, I never wanted to marry after him. I never had any desire,’ she confessed. ‘No one could ever match him.’
Following her split, Priscilla spent several years with the karate instructor Mike Stone, though they split by 1975, two years before Elvis’ death
