Billionaire fashion designer Tom Ford has candidly revealed how he gave oral sex in the back of a New York cab to a beloved children’s author.
The 62-year-old, who recently stepped away from the industry after 35 years, opened up about his escapades in a recent interview with GQ.
He said that things turned steamy with writer Ian Falconer when the pair were still college students after a wild night out at Studio 54.
Elsewhere, Ford, who is currently living with his son in Palm Beach, also shared how he has only just started wearing underwear.
His sexual escapades
Elaborating further about his steamy encounter, Ford explained how he had been studying for an art degree at NYU.
He said Falconer would regularly approach him in class, adding: ‘I just thought, poor thing. He has no friends. He’s glomming on to me. I had no idea he was gay. I had no idea he was trying to pick me up.’
The duo ended up heading to Studio 54 – a former disco nightclub in Manhattan – for a night out with a group of pals which included artist Andy Warhol.
After seeing Falconer and a male friend kiss, Ford dished: ‘So I thought, “Okay, these guys are gay. Well, I’ve always kind of been curious about this.” And I just belted back the vodkas.
‘What the f**k did I do?’
‘By the end of the night, I was giving Ian Falconer a bl**j*b in the cab on the way back to his house on Eighth Street and Fifth Avenue, which he shared with [photographer] Patrick McMullan.
‘I remember waking up the next morning in Ian’s loft bed. Thinking, “What the f**k did I do?” And I remember saying to him — you’ve seen it in movies — “This was great, but, you know, I’m not gay.”‘
About Falconer
Falconer, who died earlier this year, went on to become a renowned author of children’s book series Olivia – featuring an ingenious piglet – which he developed for his niece in 1996.
Ford ultimately found love with Richard Buckley after first meeting at a fashion show in 1986.
