Members of an Arizona church are praying for a miracle after their outreach director was shot in the head while street preaching.
How the incident happened
26-year-old Hans Schmidt was promoting Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church on a street corner when the shooting occurred.
A suspect has yet to be identified. In a press release, the Glendale Police Department says they are still investigating and believe there are additional witnesses to this incident who may have information about what happened.
Schmidt, a former military combat medic, husband and father to two young children, is in critical condition, and his church says he is in desperate need of a miracle.
That being said, Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church says the family remains encouraged by what they are seeing and are rejoicing.
‘Thank you to all those around the world who have reached out to share your prayers, love, and support,’ said Victory Chapel First Phoenix Church in a post on their website.
Schmidt’s wife, Zulya, made several posts on Facebook asking for prayer.
‘I love my handsome cowboy. Keep fighting papi. We need you!!’ said Zulya in a social media post. ‘Believing God has the final say.’
