Marie Stevens was bitten on the legs and arms by two rottweilers in Netherton, Merseyside, on 18 August.

The 40-year-old died on Sunday 3 September after collapsing at home, police said.

Officers were called to her address on Holden Road in Brighton-le-Sands by the North West Ambulance Service shortly after 9.10am.

A post-mortem identified the primary cause of death as a pulmonary embolism.

Police said last month’s attack was reported on Park Lane West in Netherton.
