Six travelers declared MISSING as passenger boat capsizes in Niger state

At least six travellers have been declared missing after a passenger boat they were travelling on capsized on Zamare River in Agwara LGA of Niger State on Monday, August 28.

EmmanuelsBlog.com.ng gathered that the incident happened on Monday when travellers, mostly farmers, were travelling from Niger State to Kebbi State.

The boat had 20 passengers including women and children when the engine powering it went off in the middle of the river.

A lifeless body of one of the travellers had been recovered while a search operation was still ongoing to rescue the remaining people, according to Daily Trust.

Confirming the incident, the Overseeing Director General, Niger State Emergency Management Agency, Garba Salihu, said the agency was yet to get full details of the incident.
