A little girl who plummeted from a high-rise balcony to her death has been pictured for the first time.

Eight-year-old Minnie died after tumbling from Portsmouth’s 11-storey Pickwick House on August 24.

Emergency services swarmed the scene in Wingfield Street, but tragically were unable to save the schoolgirl.

Police arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect, who has since been released on bail until November 24.

Now a fundraiser has been set up to pay for a ‘special place for Minnie’s siblings and family to go to remember her’.

The campaign has been organised by Portsmouth resident Lisa Knight on behalf of the youngster’s family and has so far raised about £1,400.

Mrs Knight said: ‘All money raised will go towards a wake for Minnie and a memorial bench in a special place for Minnie’s siblings and family to go to to remember her.

‘I am doing this on behalf of her mum (and with her permission) as you can imagine she is in no fit state to organise this herself.’

Hampshire Police is still investigating the tragedy and has appealed for witnesses or those with information about the horror fall to come forward.

Floral tributes were left outside the tower block following the death of Minnie – who has not been fully named.

One message read: ‘RIP little angel. We are saddened to hear of the passing of your child. She was loved by many and will be greatly missed.’

An inquest was due to be opened and adjourned earlier this month by Portsmouth’s coroner.
