Cristiano Ronaldo has no plans to retire anytime soon and insists claims suggesting he is about to interrupt his established career are ‘not true’ after scoring another goal in Saudi Arabia.
The 38-year-old continues to defy critics and helped himself to two goals in Al-Nassr’s 4-3 win over Al-Ahli on Friday evening, scoring his first goal through a plume of smoke.
Ronaldo was full of optimism on the day that celebrated Saudi Arabian culture, declaring in true style that he will not stop playing until his body tells him to.
The Portuguese superstar follows a strict diet and sleep regime to keep himself in top condition and has defiantly rejected any idea of retirement following Al-Nassr’s recent win.”
“They say Ronaldo is done… but that’s not true,” Ronaldo said. “I’ll keep playing until my legs say: Cristiano, I’m done.” I still have a lot. I still love football and scoring goals.
‘I still enjoy winning. They say I’m done, but I still prove it’s not true,” he added.
Ronaldo has seen exceptional longevity throughout his career and is still regarded as one of the best players in the world despite moving closer to 40.
Huge success during spells at Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus followed before he decided to move to Saudi Arabia after an unsuccessful second spell with the Red Devils.
His arrival in the Middle East last December created a huge following of European stars, with the country spending £784.2 million on summer transfers.
Former Liverpool stars Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Jordan Henderson decided to follow Ronaldo to the Kingdom, while former Real Madrid teammate Karim Benzema also made the move.
Ronaldo recently set the record of 1,000 unbeaten career matches as Al-Nassr emerged victorious in their recent AFC Champions League match against Persepolis.
He also continued to play for the Portuguese national team and is aiming for a place in their squad at next year’s European Championship.
