A YouTube celebrity chef was arrested in Thailand and accused of murdering his boyfriend as police made brutal claims about the alleged murder.
Detectives believe Daniel Sancho Bronchalo killed his former lover, Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, then chopped up his body, hid it in a suitcase and dumped it at sea.
Daniel is accused by police of beating his plastic surgeon partner to death on the island of Koh Phangnan in Thailand last week.
Officers claim that parts of Arteaga’s body including his hips and thighs were found by onlookers at a rubbish dump on August 3.
Daniel, 29, who boasts 12,400 followers on social media had been in the Thai resort since July 31 but recently became embroiled in a feud with his Colombian lover who he had been in a relationship with for over a year, according to local police.
It’s believed the pair had been on the island to attend a Full Moon Party.
Their feud was over ‘sex and money’, according to Thailand police who accuse Daniel of having chopped his boyfriend’s body into 14 pieces before he went out to party with friends before filing a missing person report.
The Bangkok Post reports that detectives claim that Daniel had disposed of Edwin’s body in the sea, where he used a kayak and other locations across the island.
It’s believed that divers have since recovered his head and hands following an investigation. Earlier today (August 6), Daniel and the police headed to the beach where the body was recovered.
The Spanish native has since been detained in custody and is currently on suicide watch and will appear in a Thailand court on Monday, August 7.
Local police officials have confirmed that he would be charged with ‘premeditated murder and secretly moving or destroying a corpse to conceal a death or the cause of death’.
Police Lieutenant General Surapong Thanomjit went on to say: ‘Investigators found traces of the victim’s body in the hotel room the suspect booked.’
Local police later discovered that the couple had a hotel booked between July 31 to August 3 but Daniel later changed this to a hotel which is a fair distance from where they had booked.
Police also found out that he had been purchasing knives, plastic bags and cleaning liquid at convenience stores on the island.
Meanwhile, Edwin’s clothing including boxer shorts, a black t-shirt and shorts have since been covered within the bags which contained human body parts as well as cleaning products.
It’s reported that Daniel’s dad is currently flying to Thailand.
