Three Kentucky high schoolers were arrested after they took video of themselves telling their teachers they had a bomb or gun as part of a dangerous new TikTok prank.

There have been four different bomb threats at two different schools at Oldham County High School and South Oldham High School since the new school year began on August 9.

Police said three of the students, whose names have not been disclosed because they are minors, are now facing charges of terroristic threats though the threats were deemed ’empty’ threats designed to rack up social media views.

Oldham County School Director of Student Services Eric Davis told WDRB News that ‘this is what will happen – it is not an ‘if’ or a ‘maybe’ – but will happen if you make these types of threats even if it is a joke.’

He added, ‘it’s been a huge disruption… a huge disruption. This has been a difficult start I think mainly due to this social media rage.’

Oldham County Schools said that all four students have been suspended. They’ve also been ordered to undergo a mental health screening before returning to class.

Though the threats are reportedly ’empty’ ones, school officials are concerned and cracking down on the disturbing behavior.

Since the frightening incidents, all of the TikTok videos have been removed at the district’s request.

District officials asked parents to talk to their children about the new TikTok trend and talk about the consequences they can face with making a threat.

They also encouraged that their child’s social media accounts are monitored more closely and to notify the authorities of anyone threatening violence.
