Jurgen Klopp and his Liverpool squad have laid a wreath for a construction worker who sadly died after being injured while working on Everton ’s new stadium.
Michael Jones lost his life on Monday following an incident on the site at Bramley Moore Dock.
The 26-year-old from Kirkby was rushed to Aintree Hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
Michael was a lifelong Everton fan and the club released a statement earlier this week to pay tribute.
Liverpool have now paid their respects by laying a wreath for Michael ahead of their Premier League match against Bournemouth at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Klopp, his players and staff were seen attending the site on Saturday morning in club tracksuits.
Klopp was pictured holding his cap while looking at the flowers that have been left before the whole group held a minute’s silence.

Liverpool did not publicise the wreath-laying in advance.
In a tribute released on Tuesday, Michael’s family said: ‘The family would like to thank everyone for their ongoing support. It is with our greatest sadness that our beloved son, brother uncle and friend Michael has sadly passed away.’
A fundraising page has been created for Michael’s family, which has currently raised over £30,000.
The description reads: ‘Michael was at work when an accident happened and he lost his life.
‘Michael was a massive Everton fan home and away with all his family and friends. Michael was so proud to be working on the project of building the new home of his beloved Everton.
‘Michael was the son of Elaine and Michael and the brother of Gemma, Terri and Katie. Michael was known to a lot of people who all say the same thing about him. He was a lovely lad with a heart of gold and would give anyone his time for a chat.’
Everton said in a statement: ‘Everyone at Everton Football Club is heartbroken by the news a male worker has died following an incident at the Everton Stadium site at Bramley-Moore Dock.
‘The thoughts and condolences of everyone connected with Everton are with his family, friends, and colleagues at this unimaginably sad time.’
The 53,000 seater stadium is due to be completed in time for the start of the 2024/25 season.
Everton will move from Goodison Park, where they have played their football since 1892, to the new site on the bank of the River Mersey upon its completion.
