Child killer Ian Huntley and Blood Diamond civil war beast Charles Taylor have reportedly started an unlikely friendship in prison and discuss world affairs.

Huntley, 49, who committed a double murder of two young girls in 2002, has apparently become close pals in prison with Taylor, the ex-president of Liberia who is serving 50 years in the UK.

The pair are in cells close to each other in Frankland Prison, County Durham, and are believed to share a close bond, according to The Sun.

Taylor used child soldiers to mutilate enemies and was convicted of war crimes and crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court in 2012.

Huntley murdered Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman, both 10, in Soham, Cambridgeshire, in 2002. He lured the girls to his house and killed them before dumping their bodies in a remote ditch.

Huntley was a caretaker at the local Soham Village College and was arrested after the girls’ bodies were discovered 13 days later.

Speaking of the new friendship, a source told The Sun: ‘They make a pretty grim couple but they have become very close — Huntley looks up to Taylor and thinks he is really intelligent.

‘He often seeks Taylor’s advice about the prison regime and world affairs.’

After Huntley murdered his two young victims, he gave TV interviews and joined in searches while his then-girlfriend Maxine Carr gave him a false alibi.

He was jailed for life in 2005. Carr was jailed for perverting the course of justice and was released in 2004 with a new identity.

Huntley sparked outrage in 2021 after receiving his Covid vaccination in prison ahead of millions of law-abiding people his age and older.

His vaccination came as millions of others, including prison staff around him, waited to fit the criteria for the jab while priority was given to over-55s, healthcare workers and people at high risk from coronavirus.
