Revellers battering one another with bar stools, hurling glasses and lashing out at police – this is the shocking moment an ugly brawl erupted on a Spanish strip popular with Brits.
Footage shows the fracas break out on the appropriately-named ‘Sin Street’ in Sitges, Catalonia, after it’s thought a disagreement with a bouncer erupted in violence.
Men can be seen hitting people over the head with bar stools in the fight, which was filmed from an upstairs apartment.
One female police officer appears to have a glass thrown at her by a man involved in the clash, while another makes futile attempts to wrestle with some of those partaking in the anarchy.
The violence continues for around a minute before those involved flee the scene.
It’s understood the broil broke out following a dispute with door staff on the beach town’s Primer de Maig Street – a small street lined with bars and restaurants – in the early hours of July 23.
Regularly referred to as ‘Pecat’, or ‘Sin Street’, the strip is popular with British tourists, although it’s unknown whether any of those involved in the fight were UK tourists.
Around 40 people can be seen joining the fight before scrambling to get away, with the appalling footage showing people hit over the head with bar stools and other weapons.
Glass items, either drinks glasses or bottles, are thrown in the chaos, including one at one of the three police officers trying their best to diffuse the brawl.
Two police suffered dislocated joints in the violence, it has since emerged. No one has been arrested in connection with the fight, however, as people involved fled the scene instantly.
The fight is now being investigated by Mossos d’Esquadra – Catalan police – after it followed an earlier bout of violence in another nearby town, Salou.
Reports were made of several revellers attacking door staff at a bar in town, which is also a popular British holiday destination.
