A heartwarming video of a man proposing to his girlfriend with an audio clip of her late father’s voice giving his ‘blessing’ just days before he died has gone viral.
The unnamed man was recorded bending down on one knee and asking for his girlfriend Emily’s hand in marriage.
He presented her with an engagement ring after the voice of her dad comes out of the television, granting his ‘permission’ for the man to marry his daughter.
The video was shared by digital creator Hannah Schibi, who is known to post heartwarming videos and doesn’t appear to have any connection to the couple.
It was originally shared on TikTok, where it touched the hearts of more than 15.6 million people.
The clip begins with the couple watching TV, with the bride-to-be sitting on the seat closest to the screen, while her beau sits behind her.
Soon, it cuts to her father’s voice as the words he is saying appear on the screen. Emily is visibly shocked and turns back to her husband-to-be, who is preparing to get down on one knee.
She then turns back to the TV to continue listening to her dad’s voice.
Her father’s voice on the TV says: ‘Son, you’ve got my permission as much as I can give it to you in this short time I have left on this Earth. ‘I know you love Emily, and I know you’ll take care of her. God bless you and you have my blessing son.’
Emily begins to cry as she holds her hands over her mouth.
When she turns around, her husband-to-be is on one knee. ‘I know how important it was to you for me to get your father’s permission, and I was able to get that just a few days ago. Will you marry me?’ he says.
In between sobs, Emily responds: ‘Yes.’ The couple then embraces.
Viewers flocked to the comments to gush over the sweet gesture and the adorable couple.
One person said: ‘This is it. Hands down forever and ever is the best proposal ever. Nothing [tops] this. Congrats.’
Another user commented: ‘I’m crying.’ ‘This is so beautiful,’ someone else wrote.
