President Joe Biden has yet again taken a stumble up the stairs of Air Force One as he heads home from his European trip in Helsinki.
Biden, 80, had made his way about halfway up the steps of the presidential plane at Helsinki-Vantaan International Airport in the Finnish capital when he appeared to lose his footing before bracing for a fall.
But the octogenarian president recovered, clenching to the handrail and recouping his composure to continue the rest of the way up.
Finally standing at the top of the stairs, Biden turned to wave at the onlookers as the plane made its way to Joint Base Andrews in Maryland.
Biden had spent the last few days in Europe for the NATO summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, before a meeting with Nordic leaders.
This isn’t the first time the president has had difficulty with the stairs leading to the presidential plane.
On the recent flight Biden appeared to be using a shorter set of stairs than previously.
The most recent wrong-footing appeared to be at least the fourth time Biden had taken a stumble on the Air Force One stairs.
Earlier this year in February he stumbled on the stairs as he left Warsaw in Poland from another international trip. He lost his footing and fell forward before composing himself and making the rest of the way up.
A month later, he again had trouble navigating Air Force One’s stairs as he boarded the presidential aircraft as he departed from Selma, Alabama.
The president also fell up the stairs of Air Force One just two months into his administration in March 2021.
It appears Biden has been using a shorter set of stairs since last month when he took a slight fall at a graduation ceremony at the Air Force Academy in Colorado when he stumbled over a sandbag.
However, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said she was not aware of ‘any decision process’ made regarding the possible change of stairs to board Air Force One.
It comes as MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-host Mika Brzezinski said Wednesday that the president’s staff needed to ‘own his age’.
Brzezinski blasted the White House staff for not simplifying his schedule and ensuring he doesn’t fall.
