Dad of brother who murdered own sister jailed for brutal rape before son’s trial

The dad of a brother who murdered his own sister was jailed for raping a woman before his son’s trial took place.

Peter Gibson was thrown behind bars for 10 years at Glasgow’s High Court in April this year.

The 62-year-old raped a woman in East Kilbride, Lanarkshire – the horrific attack included him tying her up and blindfolding her.

Gibson also indecently assaulted a young boy in East Kilbride and was further violent to the child by punching and kicking him.

Connor raped and killed his own sister, Amber. His dad was also a rapist.

The dad was guilty of lewd and libidinous behaviour towards another boy as well as physically assaulting him and threatening the child.

Gibson, latterly of Shropshire, was convicted of a total of 10 charges and his crimes spanned between June 2001 and February 2008, The Daily Record reported.

He was jailed and also ordered to be supervised for a further three years on his release.

Despite being jailed months ago, reporting of the case was delayed until the end of his son’s murder trial – which was Tuesday.

Connor Gibson, Peter’s son, faces life in jail after he was found guilty of sexually assaulting and murdering his teenage sister, before he posted a chilling tribute to her on Facebook.

Connor Gibson was convicted this afternoon of the fatal attack on 16-year-old sibling Amber at a park in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire.

A judge warned the 20-year-old he would pay a ‘heavy price’ for his actions, which were branded by both he and a senior detective as ‘depraved’.

A separate man, Stephen Corrigan, has also been found guilty of attempting to defeat the ends of justice by intimately touching and concealing Amber’s body after discovering her in the park.
