A hero dog rescued a baby after she was dumped in a rubbish bag and left outside a building in Lebanon.
The stray dog was found carrying the bag by its mouth when a passer-by heard the abandoned girl crying on Wednesday.
The bystander rushed the baby to the Islamic hospital, where she was then transferred to the Tripoli Government Hospital.
Images show the infant covered with red bruises marked across her face and body.
Rumours circulating online suggested the baby was around 4 months old, whilst others claimed she was newborn.
Social media users couldn’t believe what had happened and volunteered to adopt the child.
One person commented: ‘Some say that the dog is an unclean animal and, of course, this is not true.’
Another wrote: ‘The dog has much more humanity, kindness, cunning, and intelligence than some satanic mutants in human form.’
A third person said: ‘Animals have more compassion than humans.’
The baby’s condition has been described as serious but stable in local reports.
The hospital is yet to release more information as Wednesday was the beginning of the Islamic New Year, which means some public places were closed.
Police are working to establish the circumstances around the incident and are continuing to search for the baby’s parents.
