A young couple have tragically died in a car crash just five months before they were set to become parents for the first time.

Josh Alexander, 21, and Jessica Poole, 18, were both killed when the white Vauxhall Corsa they were travelling in was involved in a smash with a DAF truck in Ashford, Kent.

Emergency services rushed to their aid in the village of Woodchurch at around 5pm on Monday but they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The pair had only announced three months ago that they were expecting their first child – a baby boy due in November.

Heartbroken family and friends have now paid tribute to the couple, who were both from Hastings, East Sussex, following their deaths.

Josh, a fitness fanatic who worked at Tenterden Leisure Centre, was described as a young man who ‘brought the best out of everyone’.

His father, Ben Sissens, described his son as his ‘proudest achievement’ and says the ‘void I feel can never be filled’.

Mr Sissens told KentOnline: ‘You were my first, my everything, my mini me, my heart, my soul and my proudest achievement.

‘This void I feel can never ever be filled, but I take some small comfort in the fact I had the privilege to call you my son.

‘Rest now my darling, with your beautiful Jess and your baby boy.

‘This is only a see you later, not goodbye.’

Friend Ben Wheeler wrote on Facebook: ‘I have never met someone just as amazing, honest, kind and hardworking as you are.

‘You deserved the world and deserved to be with Jess and your little boy.

‘I hope all three of you are together in a better place.’You’ll be forever missed.’
