One-year-old child dies after being left in hot car as mum worked nine-hour hospital shift

A one-year-old child in Washington died after being left in a car for nine hours while their mother worked a shift at a hospital.

According to police, the child’s foster mother arrived for work at MultiCare Good Samaritan Hospital in the city of Puyallup on Wednesday, May 24.

According to CNN, the mother arrived at her job around 8.00am, then left for the evening at 5.00pm.

When she returned to her car, she realized that she had left the child in the car during the entire shift.

The baby was rushed back to Good Samaritan Hospital, but was unable to be revived.

The case is still under investigation. Police said that the foster mother and family are cooperating with the investigation and no charges have been filed.

The temperature in Puyallup that day was between 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit, but the temperature in the car reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
