A debris field found in the search area of the missing Titanic submersible has been determined to be from the external body of the missing sub Titan, according to the US Coast Guard.
The discovery came as the sub and its five passengers would be reaching the limit of the sub’s roughly 96 hours of life support.
All passengers on the lost vessel are pronounced dead after the catastrophic implosion.
The US Coast Guard released a new graphic map detailing their massive search pattern in the hunt for the missing Titanic submersible.
The image, released Wednesday night, showed the area above the shipwreck, marked with a large red X, and the areas surveyed by the joint rescue efforts of The Canadian Coast Guard boat John Cabot, commercial vessels Skandi Vinland and the Atlantic Merlin and a Coast Guard C-130 crew also arrived on scene.

The debris was located on the ocean floor, roughly 500 meters (about a third of a mile) off of the bow of the Titanic, and it was found around 8:55 a.m. ET, according to USCG.
