Stephen Alderton has pleaded guilty to the murders of father and son Gary Dunmore, 57, and Joshua Dunmore, 32, whose bodies were found at properties in two villages in Cambridgeshire on March 29.
Stephen Alderton, of no fixed address, appeared at Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday where he pleaded guilty to two counts of murder.
Wearing a grey polo shirt and blue jeans, the defendant showed no emotion as he entered his pleas, with family members of the victim watching on from the jury seats of the court.
He spoke only to confirm his name and to enter his pleas.
Judge Mark Bishop remanded him in custody to be sentenced on October 20.
Alderton denied one count of possession of a firearm, a double-barrelled shotgun, with intent to cause fear of violence to another person.
Prosecutor Peter Gair said there was ‘no public interest to be served by seeking a trial’ on the count and the judge ordered that it lie on file.
Police were called to the village of Bluntisham shortly after 9pm where the body of 32-year-old Joshua Dunmore was found inside a house with a gunshot wound.
Shortly after the body of 57-year-old Gary Dunmore was found with gunshot wounds at a property in The Row, Sutton.
Floral tributes quickly began to pile up near police cordon tape at Meridian Close in Bluntisham.
One of the tributes left in Bluntisham said: ‘Josh, you shined such a bright light over everyone around you. It was impossible not to smile when you’re around. You’re going to be missed so much.’
People also paid tribute to the ‘kind and gentle man’ Gary Dunmore.
One described him as ‘a legend’ who didn’t have ‘a malicious bone in his body’.
