Love Islander 2016 star Olivia Bowen has been left ‘gutted’ after being rushed to hospital with a broken wrist, just before she was due to take part in a horse race.

The matchmaking show winner, who featured in the 2016 series of the ITV reality dating show and met her now husband Alex through the programme, revealed her injury to fans with an Instagram Story.

The 29-year-old and mum-of-one uploaded a snap of her wrist encased in plaster and being supported in a sling as she posted the broken heart emoji and sad face icon alongside it and wrote: ‘A broken wrist. Gutted doesn’t cover it.’

The Love Island alumni has yet to reveal how she suffered the painful injury, but snaps from her recent trip to Marbella for a friend’s hen do featured her wearing a black wrist guard suggesting she may have suffered the injury before her vacation.

She also shared an Instagram Story revealing she went straight to A&E after she landed, as she shared a snap of her feet in a hospital waiting room and wrote: ‘Back from holiday straight to minor injuries for an x ray on my wrist’.

The injury will be particularly disappointing for horse-mad Olivia who was due to take part in an upcoming horse race after spending time getting her horse Dolly ready.

The equestrian-lover was preparing to take part in a horse race before suffering her injury.

Whilst training last month she revealed to fans she’d had ‘a wobble’ during practice and wondering whether she would be able to do the race at all.

On her Instagram she wrote: ‘I cried to a couple members of the team & to my trainer on the phone. What am I doing? Am I mad for this?

‘I just felt like I couldn’t do it, the anxiety that morning was crippling, especially for someone who suffers with such confidence issues.’

Yet the bubbly star revealed she was determined to get back in the saddle, as she continued: ‘I got back on, big girl knickers ON & remembering why I’m doing this!’
