Woman, 25, charged with murdering her mum after body found at home

A 25-year-old daughter has been charged with murdering her mother, who was found dead at home.

The body of Anna Jones, 44, who was a widow was found by police officers called to her flat in Station Road, Petersfield, Hampshire, at 8pm on Tuesday, May 9.

Her elder daughter Bronwyn Jones who was a suspect was remanded in custody after appearing at Portsmouth Magistrates’ Court on Friday accused of killing her.

Neighbours said they heard screaming as Jones, 25, was arrested outside her mother’s Edwardian flat.

Mrs Jones, who has another daughter aged 20, Eliza-Jayne Jones, had lost her husband David some years ago.

She previously lived with Bronwyn in a house in Liss, four miles away, where neighbours said the adult daughter regularly slept in a tent in the front garden.

A Hampshire police spokesman: ‘Anna’s next of kin were informed and are being supported by specialist officers.’

Ms Jones’s other daughter said in a tribute: ‘I love my mum she meant everything to me she was my world.

‘I love you so much, I will always miss you and you will always be in my heart. Rest in peace mummy.’

Jones, of Bordon, will next appear at the city’s crown court on Monday, May 15.
