Phillip Schofield has been branded the ‘monster of daytime TV’ by a This Morning regular in a scathing rant.
The former This Morning guest and relationship expert Louise Van Der Velde claims that Schofield was ‘arrogant’, ‘aggressive’, ‘smarmy’ and ‘fake’ in her years being interviewed on the ITV show.
Over the past few days, rumours have circulated surrounding the 61-year-old’s reported ‘fallout’ with co-host Holly Willoughby.
She launched a blistering attack on the 61-year-old presenter as a new GB News poll showed that 91 per cent of viewers wanted him to leave This Morning and only 9 per cent said his co-star Holly Willoughby should go.
It comes amid the ongoing ‘feud’ behind the scenes at ITV’s flagship daytime programme and reports of increased tensions between the two presenters since the apparent issues between them became public last week.
While neither have addressed the situation publicly, aside from previous comment from Phil insisting that the pair are still ‘best friends’, it has been alleged that Holly, 41, has contemplated quitting This Morning as she is struggling to cope with the situation.
Elsewhere, Phil has become ‘increasingly withdrawn’ following the speculation, while fans are wondering what the future of This Morning entails.
Speaking on GB News on Tuesday, May 16, Van Der Velde said: ‘My outlook has always been, whenever I am on, to be respectful to people and you kind of expect the same treatment back.
‘With Phil, he is like this monster of daytime TV. He is rude, people have to sit still and speak when they are spoken to – it’s just a very aggressive attitude.
‘No matter how nice I have been, he has been arrogant. He is all nice and all smiles for the camera and jolly.
‘But frankly he is fake and it’s time he got the boot.
She said all the other presenters were friendly, robust and fair and Willoughby could not have been more supportive to her on This Morning, but not her co-host.
She said: ‘I expect to be challenged and don’t mind a bit of controversy. But he is ‘judgy’.
‘I went on that show many, many times. I am speaking about honesty, integrity and alignment in relationships. I speak about people having affairs – that is a big topic of mine.
‘He scowled at me and looked down his nose at me with his judgy attitude.
‘I think it’s about time he stopped having this privileged position and it’s definitely not Holly who should be going.
‘She is lovely, warm and sisterly. I don’t know how Holly has put up with him for this long.’
Brand expert Mark Borkowski, also interviewed on Dan Wootton Tonight, said it was time for ITV to revamp This Morning.
