The former This Morning host has reportedly left his ex-colleagues stunned with the revelations about his relationship with a younger member of ITV staff.
ITV bosses are shocked by Phillip Schofield’s statement and admission of his affair, insiders at the channel insisted tonight.
According to the Mirror, senior staff on This Morning were ‘angry and stunned’ at what had happened and how he had conducted himself.
One source said: ‘He lied point blank to staff at every level.’
The reaction came after Schofield confessed to an affair with a young male runner from This Morning.
He admitted lying to his management and ITV about what happened and not telling the truth until now – in an effort to protect his ex-colleague.
Schofield said in part of his statement: ‘Contrary to speculation, whilst I met the man when he was a teenager and was asked to help him to get into television, it was only after he started to work on the show that it became more than just a friendship. That relationship was unwise, but not illegal. It is now over.’
