Armed robbers steal millions of pounds worth of jewellery in raid on Bulgari store

Three men have stolen millions of pounds worth of jewellery from Bulgari’s flagship branch in Paris in broad daylight – for the second time in as many years.

Riding a pair of black motorcycles, the trio pulled up outside the luxury jewellery on the ultra-chic Place Vendome square at the heart of the French capital at around 1.45pm local time on Saturday.

Two of the raiders then walked into the store carrying assault rifles, immediately striking a security guard on the head with the butt of a gun, causing him a serious head injury, police say.

They then allegedly set about stuffing jewellery and luxury watches into bags before fleeing.

Footage filmed by a passer-by shows the third man in black overalls standing watch outside with a smaller firearm.

A short while later, the moment all three are seen driving off on their bikes, using the pavement to dodge traffic.

Detectives say the trio ‘calmly escaped across the square’ just a few minutes after arriving.

The security guard was said to have been left seriously injured after the incident, which remains under investigation.

The same store was previously robbed by six men in broad daylight of jewellery worth €10 million (£8.8 million in 2021).

Three of the robbers, aged 26 to 37 have been jailed over the incident.
One of them was caught just a few minutes later and was wounded by a police officer in the process.
