Young Remainers Want Meghan Markle And Prince Harry To Be At King Charles’ Coronation – Poll Finds

Remainers and young people are more likely to think Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should receive an invite to the King’s Coronation, polling suggests.

Exactly 50% of the 18 to 24-year-old demographic believe the couple should attend the celebrations, with even greater support (56%) among those aged 25 to 49.

In contrast, just 34% of people aged over 65 agreed, according to the poll carried out for The Times.

The research revealed another stark difference of opinion between Leavers and Remainers, with 60% of people who voted to stay in the EU in 2016 thinking the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should be invited compared with just 34% of those who backed Brexit.

Some 66% of Labour voters were in favour of the duo’s attendance at the historic event, while the percentage of Conservative voters who held that view was half that figure (33%).

The research found that Tory voters were more inclined to support Prince Andrew attending the ceremony.

A YouGov poll on the subject got similar results, finding that 45% of Conservative voters at the last election thought the Duke of York should attend, despite being removed as a working royal in 2019 following allegations of sex offences which he has vehemently denied.

31% of Labour voters believe Andrew should be at the event. Those who approve of his attendance were also more like to support Brexit and be older.
