A woman woke up to a complete stranger in her bedroom who was half-nked and asking to have s-x with her.
Mark Maddock from Coleridge Drive in Enderby, entered his victim’s home at around 10pm on June 12 last year when she fell asleep on the couch.
He hid under a bed in her spare room for six hours before the woman moved upstairs to her room in the early hours of the morning.
When she woke up, Maddock, 46, was trying to get into her bed saying he wanted to have s-x with her – wearing nothing but boxers and a pair of tights.
The woman screamed and kicked him, then he fled the house.It was later discovered Maddock had a blindfold and a pair of handcuffs in a plastic bag with him.
Detective constable Stacey Jones said: ‘Had the victim not been strong enough to kick out at him, this incident may well have had a very different outcome.’
Maddock was also thought to have taken some underwear from her laundry basket and masturbated on it while in the house, Metro reports.
The victim had recognised Maddock as someone who lived in the village of Enderby, Leicestershire, and her ex-partner was able to name him so he was quickly reported to the police.
Leicester Crown Court heard how Maddock made a comment about apologising to the woman when he was arrested.
But he refused to answer questions about CCTV footage which showed someone matching his description running away from her house at the same time as the attack.
He denied trespassing with intent to commit a relevant s-xual offence, but was found guilty in February.
The victim told the court how the whole ordeal had changed how safe she feels in her life and in her home, after believing she was going to be raped that day.
She said: ‘I cannot explain the fear I felt in opening my eyes in my own bed to see him stood in front of me, dressed and acting in that way.
‘I was in complete shock immediately afterwards, and at that moment, the defendant had left the house, I have never felt so alone and vulnerable in my life.
‘The anxiety and impact on my mental health has been significant and my home, privacy and safety have been completely violated. I don’t know if I will ever feel completely safe again.’
Maddock was jailed for five years and given a 10-year restraining order against his victim Monday.
