Queen Consort Camilla made her first public appearance since her future royal title was confirmed by Buckingham Palace, as more details about the King’s Coronation were released.
Camilla, 75, joined her husband, King Charles, 74, as they carried out engagements in Malton, Yorkshire on Wednesday.
The couple met owners and staff from six artisan food producers at Talbot Yard Food Court, including a butcher, baker, gelateria, coffee roastery, distillery and macaron maker.
The Queen Consort, wearing a pinstripe skirt suit, shielded herself from the rain with a clear umbrella, as the pair toured the food court.
Camilla’s “Consort” title has been dropped on the formal invitations, paving the way for her to be known simply as Queen Camilla going forward.
A royal source said: “It made sense” to refer to her as Queen Consort in the months after the late Queen’s death, but added: ‘Queen Camilla’ is the appropriate title to set against ‘King Charles’ on the invitation. The coronation is an appropriate time to start using ‘Queen Camilla’ in an official capacity.”
The palace also shared details about the eight Pages of Honour chosen to take part in the coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey.
They include King Charles’s eldest grandson, Prince George, nine, and three of Camilla’s grandchildren, twin boys Gus and Louis Lopes, 13, and 12-year-old Freddy Parker Bowles.
